We recently held our Awards Ceremony to honor all our players for their hard work and dedication. Each player received an award across various categories, including, Player of the Year, Most Improved Player and Player's Player of the Year.
Despite the inclement weather, some of the children enjoyed fun and games as part of the Down Syndrome Celebration at the Nelson Mandela Youth Centre, organized with the help of coaches from the Durban African Sports Club. We would like to extend our thanks to Clive, Les, Mary, and the committee for hosting this wonderful event.
Durban Africa Sports Club hosted its annual One Goal One Education 2024 Tournament in partnership with George Ramalu and Azelis on the 14/09/2024.
The launch and draw of the "One Goal, One Education" tournament, hosted by the George Ramalu Memorial Trust in collaboration with Azelis, for schools, was held at Hotel Savera on 28-08-2024.
Durban African Sports Head Coach Babes Govender training the learners and players from Meadowlands Technical School (Secondary School Section) with assistance from Former student and now educator Thillen Mudaly. This in preparing for participation in the One Goal One Education Tournament to be held on 14th September 2024.
Day 1 Durban African Sports Club, kicked off Life Skills program with special keynote speaker Jay Mannikam (Anti Doping Official). He received a certificate of appreciation from Maggie Govender the club secretary and KZN Director of Demarcation for KZN Netball.
Durban Africa Sports Club launched its School Development ABC program this morning at Golden Gateway. Students in Grades 4, 5, and 6 participated in agility, balance, coordination drills, and fun games. The experience was joyful for everyone involved. Coach Babes Govender and the DASC team led the event.
Durban Africa Sports Club held Sport Administration Workshop with Grades 6 and 7 with Alencon Primary School. Facilitated by Coach Babes Govender and Naven Pillay. This was part of our longstanding life skills program for our youth.
The rise in the number of creative minds in the 80’s such as Roy Naidoo has boosted the economies, created jobs and paved a better future for their own families. Roy Naidoo’s history of poverty and lack of education made him aware that he needed to give back to society and now he does so in a number of ways ranging from becoming a social entrepreneur, making active participation in community and social service programs.
Durban Africa Sports Club kicks off their 2024 Development for Soccer and Netball. A great turnout from the students and great support from the coaches.
Coach Babes Govender and Coach Kercy from Durban Africa Sports Club recently participated in an event organized by Bayview Clinic to raise awareness about diabetes. At the event, Coach Babes emphasized the importance of exercise in preventing various illnesses. Coach Kercy also gave a demonstration of some stretching exercises that can be helpful. It was an honor for the coaches to be a part of this community initiative, and they would like to thank the Bayview Clinic Management for inviting them to such a special day.
This past Saturday, 4th November 2023, saw Durban Africa Sports Club represented at the KZN Sports Awards 2023. Coach Babes Govender & Chairman Anand Thaver attend KZN Sports Awards 2023 as the club representatives.
Durban Africa Sports Club received their certificate award for being one of the nominees in the category of the Best Recreation Body in KZN for 2023.
Durban Africa Sports Club has been nominated for the KZN Sports Awards 2023 in the category of Recreation Body of the year.
Durban Africa Sport Clubs held their second fundraising event Rock N Roll Jive 2, on the 28th of October 2023. Despite poor weather the event was graced by more than 100 guests including technical team members, parents, friends and sponsors.
The Durban Africa Sports Club focused on the development of sports for boys and girls soccer and netball in 2023. With the club's commitment to providing top-notch training and support for young athletes, it is no surprise that they are already seeing great success in these areas.

Durban Africa Sports Club held it's 10th annual One goal One Education tournament in partnership with The George Ramalu Trust and Umongo Petroleum. The event was a great success which saw both netball and soccer enjoyed by boys and girls who attended. Durban Africa sports club kicked off its 2023-2024 VISION project, which aims to develop girls soccer in the community.
The provision of physical education is in decline across all world regions. Rising levels of physical education inactivity along with the substantial risk have been described as a pandemic by the World health organization.
Research has shown that physical education programs can do a great deal to improve the lifestyle of children with special needs. They can increase competency in gross motor skills, help to control obesity, improve self-esteem and social skills, and encourage an active lifestyle
All classes were provided with juices as Durban Africa Sports Club continued on their juice drive initiative. Deputy principal Mark Van Wyk helped distribute to various classes.
Saturday 26th Feb 2022 saw the kick-off of the Durban Africa Sport Club Youth Program 2022. The first fully fledged program since the pandemic of Covid-19 put a halt to sports in Durban during 2020.
In honor of Nelson Mandela, Durban Africa Sports Club had a successful sports and fun day for their learner's at Westpark School on 15/07/2023.
Tuesday, 22nd November 2022, West Park School Malvern 33 students visited the fan park at Hotel Savera to watch the Morocco vs Croatia game.
On December 23rd, 2022 Durban Africa Sports Club held a Christmas Party for the children of St. Vincent's Mariannhill.
Durban Africa would like to sincerely thank UCL for their contribution and partnership in assisting the West Park Special needs school with the reconstruction of their Goal posts.
Durban Africa in support of SAFA participated in the D License coaches festival at West Park School.
